Any amendments thatcommence after that date are not included.____________________ SUMMARY OFFENCES ACTAn Act to provide for certain Criminal OffencesPART I – PRELIMINARY1. Short title This Ordinance may be cited as the Summary Offences Act  . 2. Commencement This Ordinance shall commence on a day to be fixed by the Administratorby notice in the Gazette of the Northern Territory. 3. Application of certain Acts of the State of South Australia to cease (1) The Police Act  , 1869 (No. 15 of 1869-70), and the Police Act  Amendment Act    1898-9 (No. 715 of 1898-9) of the State of South Australia shallcease to apply to the Northern Territory as from the commencement of thisOrdinance.(2) Nothing in subsection (1) shall affect any right, obligation, orliability acquired, accrued or incurred under any Act therein referred to, or anypenalty, forfeiture or punishment in respect of any offence committed against anysuch Act, or any investigation, legal proceeding, or remedy in respect of any suchright, obligation, liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid. 4. Interpretation In this Ordinance, unless the contrary intention appears – Commissioner means the Commissioner of Police appointed under the Police Administration Act  ; loiter means to idle or linger about;
