DUNCAN U. FLETCHER HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP NEWS Guidance Department March 2012 renewable scholarship in the amount of $3,000 to help defer costs at the University of Georgia. Students must be attending the University of Georgia as a freshman in the fall of 2010. An interview is required. Applications are in guidance. Deadline: March 31, 2012. The SAMMY Award Program recognizes one outstanding senior scholar athlete with a 7,500 college scholarship from the Milk Processor Education Program

The award is a one year renewable scholarship in the amount of $3,000 tohelp defer costs at the University of Georgia.Students must be attending the University of Georgia as a freshman in the fall of 2010. Aninterview is required. Applications are inguidance. Teachers, guidancecounselors, coaches, and the principal willnominate a deserving young man or woman. Seniors are encouraged to nominatethemselves . Applications online  Deadline: March19, 2012.Florida First Coast Coalition of Labor UnionWomen Scholarship is   awarding scholarshipsto senior women who have a C average, at least50 hours of community service, and nominated by two union members. Essay required.Application online @  Deadline:April 16, 2012.The Jane Conselice Science Scholarship isawarding 4 scholarships to students who areFletcher High School graduates, accepted to acollege, and planning to major in a science.Seniors must submit a letter of acceptance, twoletters of recommendation and a transcript alongwith the completed application to Mrs.McWilliams. Pick up the application in guidance. Deadline:   April 27, 2012.Beaches Educational Foundation, Inc.Scholarship is offering scholarships tograduating seniors who can show financial need,merit and the ability to be successful in a post- All seniors should have met with theircounselor by now and completed the BRIGHT FUTURES application online Rememberseniors, you must complete the FAFSA toreceive the Bright Futures Award. THE TIME IS NOW!! Registration materials and feewaivers can be picked up in Guidance. Anne Massey Scholarship is awarding $1000scholarship to a senior with a 3.0, showingfinancial need.2. Neva Mitchell-Mildred Lecrone ROTC Scholarship is awarding $500 to a senior inROTC.Applications are in guidance. Deadline for bothscholarships: April 1, 2012.Florida State College at Jacksonville have internal scholarships that can be viewed ontheir website; .The scholarships will be available at the end of March. You can download their scholarshipsand their  applications from their  website . Theyusually require that you send a transcript(obtained from the Registrar in your GuidanceDepartment) with each application. If you have not applied to college or you needmoney for college, you may want to considerthe military as an option. The recruiters andtheir office numbers are as follows:MARINES - Sgt. Also accessible under “HighSchool Planning” menu bar.4.Choose  New User – Create Login ID & Password  .5.Complete the short form (personaldata such as your name, birth date, andSSN/Florida Student Identification Number must match official schoolrecords exactly).6.Click on Submit  .
